Record Snow Fall for North Texas!

Patrick was so excited to get out in the snow. Thursday we got 12+ inches! How exciting. We also lost power Thursday night and did not get it back until Saturday morning. Brrr. I am now happy with all the snow we got, but an definitely ready for spring!

Snowball Fight!

We woke up this morning to snow and lots of it. In fact, it is still snowing! I haven't seen this much snow since I lived in Kentucky. School was canceled today because this area just isn't capable of handing this much snow. So we bundled up and went outside for some winter fun! We made snow angels, a snow princess, a snow Kitty and a snow Susie dog, and had a snowball fight. We then went inside for some hot cocoa, all before 10 a.m.!

All this snow reminds me of being a kid growing up in Ohio, we always had enough snow to play in. I am thankful for this snow so I can share that joy with my daughter. hopefully next year, we'll have another good day of snow like this so Patrick can enjoy it with us too!

A busy week!

Last week we had a busy week! It started with a nationwide photowalk, my segment was downtown Weatherford. After I was done there, we drove to Houston, then onto Galveston where I took a family portrait. Then, Chris and I drove to San Antonio for a couple of days. Somehow I managed to get a picture of the Alamo without anybody in front of it. I didn't think I would! Then it was back to Houston to pick up the kids where Abby caught her first fish. She just couldn't understand why she had to throw it back. She wanted to eat it. It was a fun and busy week, and I am still recovering!

10 Months

Patrick will be 10 months on Saturday, so I took his 10 month pictures yesterday. This is one of my favorites. Everyone comments on what a happy baby he is. He is a happy baby, and a curious baby. He is into everything, everywhere. He loves standing, but is not standing on his own yet. I may try to get some of him standing in the morning. We'll see...

The 4th was very exciting for little Abby. My good friend gave us her playset because they are moving. And it was time for fireworks! Abby was jumping out of her skin, she was so excited to see fireworks. At least once an hour she was asking if it was time for the fireworks to start. We sat out on the driveway and had sparklers and watched our neighbors shoot off the big ones. It was fun, and we stayed home! And she got a new playset to play on, which she kept asking if she could keep it. Silly girl!

9 months

Patrick is now 9 months old. He is very mobile and into everything. His favorite thing to do is pull up to stand. He is starting to say words; Ah is Abby, he is always looking at her or in her direction when he says it, no other time. He loves his big sister and lights up when she walks in the room or does something crazy. I think he wants to join her!

We go to the doctor tomorrow for his check up, so we'll find out just how much he has grown! I took these pictures at the Japanese Garden in Fort Worth. I wanted to do something nice for his 9 month pictures.

Galveston

We went to Houston this past weekend to visit my parents. While we were there, we stopped by Galveston. It was Patrick's first trip to the beach. He enjoyed eating the sand and watching the water. He did not like the waves, even when I was holding him. Abby loved the waves the most. We had fun and had sand everywhere! Galveston is starting to revive. It looked much better off than it did back in November. Lots of places are starting to rebuild. There are a few places, like the Flagship Hotel, that haven't been touched, except by graffiti.

Patrick is now crawling! He still scoots a little, but not as much. Plus, he is pulling up and loves to stand. He thinks it's the greatest thing that he can stand now. I got out Abby's old music table, and he loves it! The two of them could play with that toy all day. (And thankfully it has a quite setting). I took these yesterday, but he's been mobile for a couple weeks now (mostly the army crawl). And he's getting fast! It's hard to believe that in 3 1/2 months, he'll be 1!

Abby had her first day of dance and gymnastics today. It involved ballet, tap and gymnastics. She loved it. She did have a hard time paying attention and listening to the teachers. But, it was the first day, and I think all the girls were overly excited. She is ready to go back next week. Hopefully, she will cooperate a little better then, when the newness has worn off some.

I had to take the dance pictures through the glass in the door, because they wouldn't let us go in with them. But I was glad I was able to get something!

Patrick is now 8 months old. He is scooting around, everywhere! He is staring to pull up on things. He loves his big sister Abby and lights up when she enters the room.

Last Soccer Game

Saturday, Abby had her last Soccer game. Since it had been two weeks from the last time they all played together or even had practice (thanks to the swine flu) none of them seemed that interested. In fact, Abby and another girl on her team were talking about the party afterward instead of getting the ball. But she was thrilled to get her trophy. What a soccer season it was!

Today Abby almost made a goal! She dribbled the ball all the way down the field, lined up to the goal and kicked! The goalie stopped the ball and she did not get the goal. The picture is right before she kicked it in. She is doing much better at dribbling and turning the ball. We are glad she is doing so much better. She even played the entire game. They had 5 kids show up, but only 4 would play, and they need 5 out on the field at once. She was pretty warn out by the end of the game, but they were all troupers! Go Supers!

Seven Months

Patrick turned seven months on Saturday, but I finally got around to taking his portraits today. Since Chris is a big Astros fan, we took his portraits in an Astros outfit.

Patrick is getting his two bottom teeth. I can see them just below the surface. He's been working on those for quite awhile now. He still had no interest in crawling. But, he is a very happy baby and takes good naps!

Happy Easter everyone! Today started off cold and rainy, but we managed to get to church anyway. They changed the time of the service, so we were late getting there and had to sit in the overflow area. After Church, we came home and the kids got their Easter baskets. Patrick got his bunny. I tried to get a picture of the kids with their bunnies, but that is going to have to wait for another day. Hopefully I can get a good one of them outside together. That will be a challenge! Patrick enjoyed discovering what was in his basket. It was too cute! Today was also Chris' birthday, so we sang him the song and he got a chocolate bunny as well.

This is a picture from our backyard of the smoke coming from Hudson Oaks, north of us. This smoke is blowing all the way to Dallas. It is very windy out with gusts up to 40 miles an hour. The fire is most likely going to burn into the night. I hope that no one gets hurt or loses their homes.

Chris played in a baseball tournament this weekend, that benefited the fallen heroes. He is number 11. Patrick and I went out today to watch him play and cheer Arlington PD on to victory. Unfortunately, Garland PD won. It was a nice day for the tournament. It started Thursday and will finish up tomorrow.

Sunday was our first day to play in Oklahoma City. One of my dearest friends lives there, Natalie. Patrick and I went up there to visit for the weekend. We had some nice weather, though at times it was blustery and cold.

We started out the day by stopping by the Capital building. The brochure said it opened at 9 a.m., but it was not open. We did get some shots in with out any cars around. So, disappointed, we headed to the Will Rogers garden. It was pretty, and will be even more so when the Rose Garden is in bloom. From there we visited the Myriad Gardens, a garden enclosed in a tube looking building. There, I played with my lensbaby and had a lot of fun trying to get the selective focus to look just right. We also stopped by the Land Rush monument in Bricktown.

Then came the fun part. We drove north on Route 66. We stopped by POPS, The Round Barn, Lincoln Hotel and a Phillips 66 station. We drove about 50 miles or so down the Mother Road. It was a fun adventure! On the way back, we stopped at POPS again and ate diner.

Monday, we journeyed back to the capital building, were it was international student day, so there were people everywhere. The dome was beautiful. Last time I was there, they were finally putting it on. There were a lot of nice paintings and sculptures there as well.

After lunch, we headed to the Science Museum, where we spent four hours. Oh yes, that's right, four hours. The highlights were the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum, and the AWACS display. We also spent a lot of time touring the Deadly Medicine, a traveling exhibit from the National Holocaust Museum.

Later, we were on our way to the Oklahoma City Memorial, when a front came through. The rain shafts in the sunset were so pretty, we tried to get to a place where we could get a decent shot of them. We gave up and took the next parking lot, so we wouldn't miss it entirely. When we got to the memorial, we were a little ahead of the front again, and as we were taking pictures, it down poured on us. Patrick was the only one who stayed dry (he was under a blanket in his stroller). I did manage to get a shot with a lightening bolt, but it was out of focus. :( I think it was because I had the camera on bulb, so it picked up my cold hands shaking. Oh well. We still had fun!

Today we had our Spring Party at the park with our MOMS Club. It was cold and windy, but the kids still had fun. We had a good turn out. Abby got a lot of candy.

I took the cutest picture of Patrick yesterday. He was playing in his exosaucer and looked up at me with this big grin. I was trying to take a picture similar to one I have of Abby at this age, but the one I liked most was too out of focus, so I'll be trying again in the morning.

Patrick did have his doctor's appointment today. He is doing just fine, but he has slowed down a little on his growth. The doctor called him petite!

Big Sis/ Lil' Bro

The other day, Abby wanted to where her big sister shirt that had the giraffes on it, and she wanted to take a picture. Patrick has a matching one. They say I'm a big sister and I'm a little brother. So I thought I'd share the picture.

I am learning how to make baby food for Patrick. He is such a big eater, I think it will be a good idea. We'll see how it goes. He has his 6 month check up on Monday, so we'll see just how he's doing then!

Patrick is now 6 months old. He is starting to sit up on his own for a few seconds at a time. He loves to eat solids too. You can't feed him fast enough! I also noticed that his teeth are getting closer to the surface. I don't know when they will crown, but he's working on 'em!

Today we headed to the Botanic Garden. I had promised Abby that I would take pictures of her in her princess dress and make a story out of them for her. We get there, and everyone else is there. Spring Break. But I managed to work around the people and get some cute shots of her. I'm not going to share all the images, you'll have to wait and see the book. She was stopped by a lot of people, her admirers. One lady even asked if she was the princess of Fort Worth. I think all that attention really made her day.

We are going to go back soon and get some more. We didn't get to visit all the gardens, including the one that looks the most like a castle garden. Plus we got there in the middle of the day, meaning bad sunlight and it was getting hot. But we had fun and took some family shots afterward. I even got another shot on the butterfly bench. Next time, we'll have to do it in her princess dress.

St. Patrick's Day

It's St. Patrick's Day, so I HAD to get a picture of Patrick in a tee shirt. I might take some more later, after my battery for my nice camera charges. I had to use my older camera because of the battery being dead, and it just does not take as good of pictures. But, Patrick loves having his picture taken. I don't even have to tell him to smile. Abby, on the other hand, only cooperates when she feels like it. But, when she was a baby, she was just like Patrick, loved the camera.

Today, Abby wanted braids in her hair. We had read a story where one of the characters had braids. Her hair is not quite long enough for them to be nice and neat, but she was still happy about having braids. I took a picture of her with her braids. She strikes a pose. Patrick hears the camera and sees the flash and starts smiling himself, so of course I get a picture of him as well! I guess I've trained my children to know what to do when they see the camera.

Today I hosted a baby shower for a new friend of mine. We had a lot of fun and she got a lot of nice things for her baby girl. Above is a diaper cake that I made for her. It is made up of #1 diapers and little things the baby will need like wash cloths and hats and spoons.

Abby had her first soccer game today. She played most of the time because some of her team mates weren't too sure about playing just yet. She had fun and got the ball a few times. She got upset when the other team kept taking the ball. She didn't understand that she and her team mates had to keep the ball away from the other team. The team they played against was more organized and had had a little more practice. Hopefully the team will be able to make a goal next time!

Over all she had a lot of fun. She thinks that she won, and that's ok!

Underdog to the Rescue!

The weather is getting nicer and nicer here. I was kind of hoping for a bit of snow this winter, but it seems that is unlikely. It is a stark contrast to last year when we had a good snow fall about this time. But, the good weather had been good for cooped up three year olds. As you can see, Abby has soccer cleats and shin guards on. She is on a soccer team and will be playing her first game tomorrow. I don't know how much of it she understands right now, but it will be a good learning experience for her. Our main concern is having her keep her hands off the ball!

Patrick is now eating baby foods. He was getting very upset when we would sit down to eat and he had nothing. So, I started him on peaches, and he loves them! He is so happy to have something to eat now. He grabs at the spoon and cries for more. He is a happy baby who loves to be held. He will play on the floor for a little bit, but then he wants to be held and is quite content to stay there the rest of the day. That is so unlike Abby, who loved to play play play, and still does! It is fun comparing the differences of the two of them and wondering what things Patrick will be doing next!

We went to the Fort Worth Stock Show yesterday. They were cleaning out the stalls, so there weren't that many animals out, but we still had a great time. Abby enjoyed the carnival rides and got to ride her first roller coaster and ferris wheel. She also got to be the magician's assistant during a magic show. She got to keep the little balloon cow that she made. It was a nice day and it was nice to get out and do something different!

Abby got her first haircut today. We waited three years for it to be long enough to cut. It was a surprise and she was very excited. She did very well and had lots of fun! Her favorite part was the glitter!

Today we had our Christmas, with Santa and all. Abby, I think, was a little camera shy when she first came into the living room, because I had the video camera set up. I was hoping for a little more excitement, but she was a little timid. She still enjoyed opening all her gifts and helping Patrick with his. Her favorite present was her bike and Mermaid movie and Angelina movie, she says. We had a great day, and Abby enjoyed watching all her movies, twice.

Yesterday we got back from Houston where we went to visit my parents to celebrate Christmas. We had a great time seeing everyone again. I think the most fun everyone had was Wii Boxing. Abby even beet Papa! Abby enjoyed all of her presents and even helped everyone else open theirs. Patrick was asleep for most of it. Next year will be more fun for him.

I finally got all the presents wrapped and under the tree today. Tomorrow is Christmas eve, and Abby is so excited because that is when Santa comes. (Can't get away from him, so we just had to let him "visit") She is going to be thrilled with what "he" brings! She already guessed it tonight, but she has no idea for sure.

Three Months Old

Today is Abby's birthday. We are in Houston for it. We had to come down yesterday because Chris' dad was in the hospital. They weren't sure what had happened to him, so we came down to see him. Plus seeing the kids cheers you up! He is doing fine now and is back at home as of this evening.

So, since the kids and I stayed at my parents' house, we celebrated Abby's birthday together. We took her to Chuck-E-Cheese, and had to use her camera to take pictures because the battery in my mom's camera was dead. She had fun eating her pink icing cupcake when we came back to Grandma's.

It's so hard to believe that she is three! But she will always be my little girl.

We got back from a trip to Houston yesterday. My grandmother and great aunt came down for a visit from Indiana. It had been a long time since we had seen them. We had lots of fun together! We toured Galveston to see how it is recovering after Ike. We drove past Johnson Space Center to see where Mission Control was. The security was pretty tight there because of the shuttle beeing launched later that afternoon.

Abby also got to celebrate her birthday early. She got the new Tinkerbell movie, which she was thrilled to get. She wanted to watch her "beautiful movie". She even took it to bed with her. She had fun being the center of attention from whoever was not holding Patrick.

We drove up to Gainsville yesterday to meet my good friend Natalie. We went to the little zoo they have there and walked around. Abby had fun running from one animal exhibit to the next. It was great to see Natalie again too! Wish we could see more of each other.

We went to Trinity Park today to take our annual Fall pictures. Abby kept calling it "Fall Day". No idea why. It was a nice day, a little on the warm side for my taste, but it sure beats 90+! Abby had fun playing in the leaves and watching the ducks. I wish I could have gotten some of Patrick as well. I couldn't think of anything to do with him, besides his car seat. Oh well, we'll just have to get plenty next year!

Studio Fun

Yesterday, the kids and I had fun in the studio. Abby wanted to dress up and take pictures, so that is what we did! She had a lot of fun, even though she would not look at the camera and ran around like a crazy girl instead. But she got to put on makeup and glitter, so that was the highlight of her day.

My backdrop has seen better days though. Needs ironing...

I took pictures of Patrick in a basket. I thought it would be a neat idea. It was worth a try! He was a little too big for the basket though. Oh well. He's getting so big so quickly!

Chandor Gardens

Today we went Chandor Gardens. It is a pretty little park that is only open on weekends. Abby enjoyed exploring all the nooks and crannies and looking for butterflies. She even posed some for me. I look forward to going back to the gardens often.

Grand Champion Pecan Tree

We stopped by the Chamber of Commerce today. The lady there mentioned visiting the Grand Champion Pecan Tree just north of town. So, the kids and I did just that.It's on private property, but the owners are more than willing to show off their champion. They are very nice people too, with an equally friendly dog. The leaves of the tree were just starting to turn, so it was very pretty.

Trick or Treat!

Today we went to a retirement home to trick or treat with some of our friends from the MOMS Club. Some of the kids did not like the man in the scary mask who was handing out candy. Abby skirted right by him as fast as she could! The kids all got goody bags filled with candy and plastic things to play with. The elderly loved to see the kids in their costumes.

Later on, we went to our church for Fall Fest. Abby had her face painted with a rainbow. She had lots of fun playing the games and getting lots of candy! There were bounce houses there, which she had a blast on. She even got her first cotton candy! Luckily it was small.

Patrick dressed up as a baseball player since his pumpkin costume was too small. He seemed to be care free the entire night, even with the really loud music!

There was a great turn out and everyone seemed to be having lots of fun. Even Obama showed up! ;)

Pumpkin Carving!

Tonight we carved Abby's pumpkin. She was so excite to carve her pumpkin. But, she did not want to take out the gooey insides at all. She would, however, use the spoon. She picked a cat pattern to put on her pumpkin. She was a little disappointed that there was not a whole lot for her to do. Maybe next year, she says.

Today's adventures

Today we ventured to Arlington because Patrick had a doctor's appointment. We thought he might have an eye infection, but fortunately it was just a blocked duct. Afterward, we ate at Subway. At this location they had the Subway Nascar and a girl dressed up as a Subway sandwich. Abby did not like that sandwich. She finally waved at her before we ate.

After lunch we stopped by the Botanic Garden for a short walk. We photographed Abby on the butterfly bench again. We have a picture of her there when she was nine months old. It will be neat to keep up with it throughout the years.

After the garden, we stopped by an antique store and I bought a prop for my photography business. It is a little Chinese baby carrier basket. I hope to get some images of Patrick in it soon. It is a prop for newborns and babies. I am excited about it! Check back soon for pictures of it!

Feeding the Giraffes at the park

Today we took a day trip out to Glenn Rose. We went to Fossil Rim, a wildlife center. Here you can drive around the park and see many different kinds of wildlife, and even feed them. Abby had such a wonderful time throwing the food out the window at all the animals. We were on the hunt to find animals to feed. Abby didn't like the big giraffes coming in the car all that much. She would not feed them.

Later as we were leaving the park, we had a very Jurassic Park feeling...
The ostrich would not leave us alone and it followed us a long way. One of them even pecked our window wanting food. We rolled up our windows and drove away.

This is what we saw as we drove closer to those scary ostrich. I dubbed them the "Good Feathers" and if you have ever seen The Animaniacs, then you know what I am talking about!

It was very beautiful there, and we even saw a glimpse of fall color! We had a great time and will defiantly go back. I recommend it to everyone!

Oh! I almost forgot. There was a pen of buffalo by the admissions building. We stopped to see them and of course, Chris just HAD to get a picture!

1 Month Old

Patrick is now one month old. He had his one month check up on Monday, and he weighed 11.5 pounds and was 21.85 inches long. He is in the 90% for his weight and 75% for his height. He is beginning to reach for objects. Here he is reaching for the fish on his swing. He loves his swing, just like his sister did. He is even starting to smile.

Fall Party

Friday, the kids and I went to the Fall Party for the MOMS Club that we are a part of. The kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes and did a craft and played games, but mostly ran around like crazy. Everyone brought delicious snacks as well, for munchin' on. Abby loved wearing her Abby Cadabby costume and loved having her hair sprayed purple even more.

Abby and I made cookies Thursday night for the party, and she had so much fun doing it. She said that we were bakers. I think putting the sprinkles on was her favorite part.

New Blog

I thought I'd start a new blog to keep the family happy. Everyone keeps asking for things, so here ya go! I'll post pictures and stories here that I would not on my professional photography blog. Fell free to comment and leave suggestions.
